Safe drinking water and sanitation are essential to life, and we’re glad our customers can take these services for granted. But in other parts of the world millions of people suffer every day and their communities are trapped in poverty due to the lack of these basic requirements.
Nearly a billion people do not have access to clean water, and over two billion people live without basic sanitation. As a result, 2,000 children die a day from water-related diseases.
This is why we continuously support the work of WaterAid, both as a company and as individual members of staff. WaterAid was formed by people in the UK water industry in 1981 to improve access to safe water, hygiene and sanitation in the world's poorest communities.

Now an international non-governmental organisation, WaterAid uses practical solutions and also seeks to influence policy at national and international levels. Projects are located in 27 of the world's poorest countries in Africa, Asia, the Pacific region and Central America, with over 19 million people benefiting to date.

WaterAid runs campaigns and events around the UK and also has local community groups. Here are some of the ways you can help:

- make WaterAid a beneficiary of your fundraising activities
- support campaigns such as collecting old mobile phones for recycling
- help promote WaterAid with leaflets and other materials
For more information contact Hazel Taylor, our WaterAid Coordinator, on 01202 597002 or email email@example.com
Our local group is the Dorset Support Group. Visit their website to see what fun it is to get involved.
You can also find out about other local groups and activities by contacting WaterAid direct on 0207 973 4988 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Even small donations can save and transform lives through the work of WaterAid. Just £2 a month can help give a child a lasting supply of clean, safe water. Your donation will mean:
- no more drinking dirty water, contaminated with animal and human waste
- less water-related diarrhoeal diseases, which kill 2,000 children every day
- pumps and wells providing communities with clean, safe water
- the provision of sanitation and good hygiene practice education
You may have seen a WaterAid leaflet with your bill or statement – we send one every year. If you have donated, we’d like to thank you for supporting this vital work.
How to make a donation:
Our senior members of staff speak on a wide range of water-related subjects, including WaterAid. Although we do not request a speaker's fee, we would be very pleased to receive a donation to WaterAid if you would normally pay one.
